GoGo Penguin in a new lineup and with a new album

A few days ago, the new EP of Manchester-based British band GoGo Penguin was released. This is their first record with a new band member – drummer Jon Scott joins Chris Illingworth on piano and Nick Blaka on the bass.

GoGo Penguin are one of the most interesting names in the modern nu-jazz wave and have repeatedly attracted critical attention and audience love. We've been following the band's development since their first albums and over the years, we have been lucky enough to hear them live.
Perfectionism, new ideas and surprising solutions are their trademark. As we have already quoted the British press, the band has been described as the Radiohead of jazz. You can see more about the group here and here.

A few words about the new mini album. All five pieces were recorded in Peter Gabriel's studio and were inspired by life in the last two years, spent under the sign of the pandemic and lockdown around the world. A period that the musicians themselves define as a time of separations and gatherings, of births and losses - life with all its faces.
It is this duality and juxtaposition of opposites that gives the title of the album "Between two waves". Life between up and down, between before and after, when you just have to keep living it, exploring, discovering the new and continuing with the challenges of the unknown.

Like any GoGo Penguin project, this one leaves the listener plenty of room for personal reflection and interpretation of the music in a subjective way for each of us.
Today we listen to The Antidote is in the Poison

The album is available via all digital platforms.
