January Finds

The January premieres continue this week. Today we're listening to some interesting new stuff in anticipation of upcoming albums.

We kick things off with Dhafer Youssef's latest piece “Herbie’s Dance” which surprises with the collaboration of world renowned musicians. Youssef is accompanied by maestro Herbie Hancock on piano and virtuoso Nguyen Li on guitar. It's the second single from Dhafer Youssef's forthcoming album Street of Minarets, following the late November release of “Ondes of Chakras”, which also features bassist Marcus Miller. We are also looking forward to the album itself at the end of January.

The second interesting title is a piece from the forthcoming album of the German pianist Lambert. We're listening to "Stolper Jim", which is included on his trio's new album 'All This Time', due out in March. Music close in mood to the sound of EST, Gogo Penguin and Portico Quartet.

We close with a track from the giant Iggy Pop's newly released album "Every Loser". An album where Iggy goes back to his punk roots and reminds us of the power of rebellion. The project is organized as a single piece of work, where interludes and recitatives alternate with typically rebellious songs. Today we're listening to "Strung Out Johnny", and the entire album is available across digital platforms.
