2021 in music - autumn

As every year, at the end of this one we collect the new music that was interesting to us. This time we will divide it into four parts, according to the seasons. This week we are listening to the last, autumn part of the music of 2021. The previous parts can be recalled here.
Autumn welcomed us with a number of new projects, some of which we look back on today.
We start with the typical Istanbul sound with a play by the electro-acoustic trio Islandman and move on with a focus mainly on music from New York, London and Berlin.
The Istanbul trio Islandman has been present on the European electronic and jazz music scene for years, and today we are listening to a song from their latest album.
We continue with a piece from the new album of the American saxophonist Jeff Lederer, inspired by the eightfold path in Buddhism. Lederer is accompanied by Jamie Saft and Steve Swallow.
With the next piece, we stay on the New York wave with the music of the Japanese pianist and participant in a number of contemporary multicultural projects BIGYUKI.
Here, of course, comes the project of another Japanese musician - trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, with music from his latest album, strongly influenced by the music of Ethiopia and Mulatu Astatke.
Another project with a focus on African music follows - a song from Miles Newbold's new album, which is hidden behind the name of the band The Natural Yogurt Band.
We continue with a piece from the seventh studio project of the British band Portico Quartet (defined as the "Radiohead" of jazz). The album "Monument" continues in the tradition of the typical hypnotic and cinematic style with songs in which acoustic instruments meet electronics, with a club sound.
Here is the album 2020 "Share the wealth" by the guitar player Nels Cline Nels Cline Singers. The project also features Cyro Baptista on percussion, Brian Marcela on keyboards, Trevor Dunn on bass, Skerrick on saxophone and Scott Amendola on drums.
We end with music by the trio Organ Explosion. Musicians who organically line up with names like Medeski, Martin and Wood, the organ projects of Jamie Saft and Brian Marsella, as well as all musicians who treat the quality of analog sound with respect and a smile.
Looking forward to many exciting projects and new live meetings with interesting musicians in 2022 and we wish you happy holidays!
