2019 in music – from January to June

Stepping into sizzling July, we look back on to the past six months, and to cool things off we listen to all the newly released music of 2019 so far.
The year kicked off with two very strong projects:
Silver by Ilhan Ersahin, that we waited for quite a while and
You Don’t Know the Life by Jamie Saft, Steve Swallow and Bobby Previte – a fresh take on old American classics.
That is where the album with Julian Lage’s last album popped up - where he plays the guitar, Dave King is on drums and Jorge Roeder is on the bass.
Also not to forget is Mark Guiliana’s Beat Music – a lot closer to the electronic sound, with the adventurism and bravery of youth.
Snarky Puppy came out with “Immigrance”, that took them on a worldwide tour, kicking the European leg off in Ljubljana this June. It then went on to Belgrade, where we had the pleasure of dipping into their world of improvisations and virtuosity.
All these different projects show how blurred the lines between the genres really are. And we impatiently await the next six months, that will end up shaping our 2019 in music.
