2021 in music - summer

As we do every year, at the end of this one we collect the new music that was interesting to us. This time we will divide it into four parts - according to the seasons. This week we continue with the third part - the summer of 2021. The previous parts can be recalled here and here.

Summer brings rhythm, sea, travel and colors. We illustrate it with colorful music and we are once again on our way through cities, countries and continents - from North and South America, through Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East to Japan.

We start with the cheerful funk melodies of the Norwegian band Dark Roast, followed by the Polish quartet "Błoto". A project that brings together avant-garde and hip-hop, with a dominant retro electronic sound.

We continue with the colorful music of the American jazz musician Cochemea Gastelum. The California-born saxophonist has Native American roots and has for years combined Latin American folklore with jazz, traveling the world through music.

Next is the Peruvian electronic duo from Lima Dengue Dengue Dengue, which mixes electronic music with live performances and the obligatory masks.

With the next song we stay in South America, in Argentina with the accordion of the wizard Horatio "Chango" Spasyuk. The musician with Ukrainian roots grabs our hearts every time, so it is today with a song from his latest album Hielo Azul Tierra Roja (Blue Ice, Red Earth).

We cross-oceans and find ourselves in the eastern Mediterranean, where the record label Fortuna Records exists in Jaffa, the boys of which are working hard to extract from the archives and dust many examples of music from the 70’s.

The summer months also brought us the new music from the band of John Madoff Zion 80 - our old favorites, listened to many times live and able to surprise every time.

The summer will not be complete without the play Hittites of Istanbul Sessions by Ilhan Ershahin from their album of the same name. We are listening to the latest remix of Hey! Douglas, and then the voice of the young Turkish singer Melike Sahin.

The first week of September surprises us with the return of the amazing Hiromi and news of a new album. For the finale of our summer collection, we listen to the play Ribera Del Duero.
