About freedom and choices
I start off this text with pessimism, but I promise to end it on a high note. Today the topic is freedom. Or how the world changes around us, while we are sitting still in one place. How the wide spread wings of a global butterfly don’t reach us and I don’t even know why that is.
Many years ago, on our way to Morocco, we had to make a stop in Istanbul, we suddenly entered a full-blooded world. And that’s when everything changed.
In the western world you’re one person, in the east and in Africa you wrap your head with a scarf, you pay attention everywhere and you learn – you don’t bring yourself there, but you take your surroundings in. Experience and knowledge.
Tolerance and curiosity.
Afterwards it became a process – the pursuit of happiness. Not from the sacrifice point of view, but because that’s what the heart truly wants.
Afterwards, it turns out, it’s not so hard. Diversity – it’s all around us.
Later it became clear that that’s the way things are in the world – freedom and riot. And every piece of music is a little riot to its own time.
After that you learn how to live and accept, and later on, understand the riot. Otherwise you get left behind in the past.
And music is a language. Music as a projection of life and reality. The world has gotten to a point where only honesty really matters – everything else is anachronism and provincialism.
I have these cats living in my backyard – they are so proud, they would not let you touch them. Proud and opinionated, but still seeking contact. They might want to be close, but reality and nature doesn’t allow them. They want to, but they can’t…
And rioting always came down to one thing – yes, we can be together, but we can also be different!
The world puzzle does not tolerate abandoned passengers at abandoned stations. We all collectively move ahead and let’s see what comes out of it in the end.
We start with a small step and move forward. Today with the voice and guitar of Souad Massi.
