August Additions
The end of August brings the end of the summer. Even the different summer of 2020. Today we prepare to say goodbye to the summer and listen to pieces from two new summer projects. Both with an innovative combination of instruments, interesting new experiments and a different sound.
The Scandinavian project Unifony II by Minco Eggersman, Theodoor Borger, Aaron Parks, and Óskar Guðjónsson is an attempt to create a universal kind of music. It is the second project for the Unifony formation. A process of constant improvisation, that moves like a spiral and follows no notes. Of course, the sound is complimented by the playing of American virtuoso pianist Aaron Parks. Today we listen to Move from Unifony II.
The second interesting album that appeared in recent days is Twins by Collectif la boutique by Fabrice Martinez with guest musician Vincent Peirani, issued on the Collectif la boutique label. The trumpet player Fabrice Martinez - the leader of Collectif la boutique - invited the French accordion player Vincent Peirani to record songs together from the bands’ portfolio of the last twenty years. The result is truly impressive. The always different, happy-sad, and pulsating accordion of Peirani somehow compliments, and beautifies the pieces. On the other hand the duets and the trios between the instruments are like conversations. A really different live project. Today we listen to two pieces from it.
