Autumn 2019

If the upcoming autumn season has made you sad, and you are already missing summer, today we have a couple of ideas for short musical trips through the Balkans.
Like every autumn, the Balkans are offering a very strong musical programme. We once again look to the three more important jazz festivals, that take place in a couple of consecutive weeks from the middle of October until the beginning of November in Skopje, Belgrade and Sarajevo.
Skopje Jazz Festival once again takes place from October 17th to the 20th. It is offering us a very precise programme, focusing on the 50th anniversary of the German label ECM. Skopje jazz fest
The following week, from October 22nd to the 27th m the 35th edition of the Belgrade Jazz Festival takes place. The announced names so far indicate a very diverse and interesting programme. Dianne Reeves, Stanley Clarke and Charles Lloyd are the bigger names. Apart from them, we will have the pleasure of hearing the Michael Wollny trio, and Henri Texier’s latest project - “Sand Woman”. We are very happy that despite the difficulties of last winter, Sarajevo Jazz Festival is returning for its 23rd edition, once again with an extraordinary programme, focusing on new and different music. Our first choice is the premier of the newest album by the power-trio consisting of Brian Marsella, Trevor Dunn, Kenny Wollesen – three incredible musicians, whom we have listen to and watched live in Sarajevo throughout the last three years, as a part of John Zorn’s projects. But apart from them the festival will also welcome Adam Ben Ezra, The Ex, Ambrose Akinmusire and Shake Stew, and to wrap things up - our old favourites Quarter to Africa. Sarajevo jazz fest
In addition, at “Control” in Bucharest this October you get to hear two of the most interesting Norwegian musicians - the trumpet players Mathias Eick (on October 14th) and Nils-Petter Molvaer (on October 21st). Controlclub
These are the announced events so far that the MA team has picked and finds interesting.
