Between two cyclones

Lost somewhere in between two cyclones, we stop running and dive straight into the magic of Manos Hatzidakis. Since the subject of Greece is heavily a part of the everyday life, I once again ask myself - where do I start… Of course, the two cyclones show me the way - I start with Manos Hatzidakis. (Μάνος Χατζιδάκις).
In this world there is music that is not bound to time, just like there are books - no matter where they were written and why, some idea had to come out into the world, so it finds a way and it appears.
Calling it poetry is an understatement for this magic. Of course, it will always be more compelling live, but even from a far, it drifts you away.
Manos Hatzidakis - the great person, changing everything by playing with forces оf nature in the same way that Kazantzakis plays with words. And to play with the forces of nature is not an easy task. Here we listen to “Gioconda’s Smile” - flawless poetry, beyond all borders.
Just a walk outside of banality. A good moment to share with yourself. Like a Bulgakov book or a Chagall painting.
Dynamic, deep, with many sides to it, bright and colourful; fun of the unknown and surprising, just like life. A constantly changing sky or sea, that goes from blue to calm to unruly in the blink of an eye…
A small door into the world of Manos Hatzidakis - the person that brought the music of the Mediterranean back together and the only Greek to ever win an Oscar for his music in the movie “Never on Sunday” and the eponymous song - the most widely recognised Greek music to this day. He changed the perception of music in general. Showed to the world Nana Mouskouri and Melina Merсouri… But spent the bigger part of his life in exile.
Very often the fate of prophets is the same…
That’s how we open the Greek subject, followed by…
Μάνος Χατζιδάκις - Το Χαμόγελο Της Τζοκόντας
