Birthday

And just like that time has passed and it has officially been two years since we launched musicaround.bg and it’s our birthday. Let’s hope we also make it to the first grade!

What happened so far - more than 20 pages filled with music and stories. Our own little ammunition. Because even if you just listen to the links under each post, you will get lost. Sometimes we do that ourselves, and get surprised where we have been. Just like our favourites Ayyuka in the song dedicated to Ayrton Senna, that you can hear at the end. Our goal to have mainly facts and sometimes personal experiences always prevails. We want to showcase the music, not to force personal tastes and to translate or transform it. And now 20 pages have gathered. We will keep sharing albums and songs, that made an impression on us, and we will keep explaining the images. But when the focus is the music, words are unnecessary.

Very often the music and the stories happen long before the audience has matured. Other times we are too late, but one thing is important - everything here is alive and from the first person.

Our goal from the very beginning of the project was and will remain the same - to have a comfortable space, where we can talk about the different, outside of the mainstream, about music and trips, and how things are connected and they change us.

And because it’s our birthday we give some advice - use the search bar. It will take you to unexpected places. It even manages to surprise us. Because everything is alive and it is happening now.

Before we wrap things up we would like to thank all our friends that have been sharing and will continue sharing our posts and popularizing the music of today. Without you friends, nothing would be the same. A big thank you from the heart! Because that is the real way for music to reach us. From first person. Especially now in this new reality.

Here you would probably rightfully ask “Why?” Why do we want to make you complicit to another reality. The answer - because this reality is a pulsating life and power. Because it floats around us and it is easy to reach it. In all its forms. John Zorn, Kiril Petrenko and all the other big musicians are neither far, nor forbidden - just a little knowledge and we are there together. We believe that these times will pass and we will once again enjoy the music together with them…when we get to pack our bags again.

When at the end of February we returned from our latest concert - the one at the Berlin Philharmonic, everything suddenly closed, we had no idea what was coming our way. Now with hope we await the future. And today we celebrate, so we remember the best days with two songs from two gigs by favourite artists, listened to many times in small and big formations of musicians, which will always and immediately make us feel alive. John Zorn and co., followed by Ilhan Ersahin and co. And as a finale - Ayyuka and Ayrton Senna. Or music - as it is live. Sparkling, sudden and surprising.
