Carefree summer mood

A nice and unexpected gift on the eve of the summer season made us happy in recent days and today we are happy to share it.

We open the doors and invite summer with the new album "Going Back, Moving Up!" (Jazzland recordings 2021) by the Norwegian band Dark Roast.

The Oslo-based sextet released their debut album "First Brew" in 2018 and immediately attracted attention with its casual groove and funk playing style. As we would jokingly translate the band's name, they are defined as "dark coffee beans" and this nod dominates their music. Their path takes them to the label of the great Norwegian musician Bugge Wesseltoft "Jazzland recordings", where at the end of May this year the project "Going Back, Moving Up!" Is realized.

Lots of funk, lots of groove, guitar riffs combined with a brass section and a powerful bass and drum section - this is the dense color music of Dark Roast - somewhat deep, but at the same time easy to listen to and inviting to dance.

After a few listens, we can say for sure that this is part of the music we will listen to again and again during the summer months (and not only). And if we have to quote the definition of the musicians themselves: "This is the perfect album for a carefree summer!”

And today we amplify the sound with a glass of iced drink in hand and enjoy the fresh new wave in music.

You will find the album on all digital platforms.
