Fatoumata returns
The new proposals continue this spring. To our delight, our favorite Fatoumata Diawara is back with a new EP. The Maliba mini-album is actually a soundtrack to Fatoumata's joint project with Google Arts & Culture to preserve Timbuktu's cultural heritage in Mali, and in particular the manuscripts describing the history, culture, philosophy and development of this part of Africa.
As in any work that came out from under her pen, here too, the music sparkles and speaks. One can even feel the colors in which the sunny African country is painted.
However, the topic and the message behind it are much more serious and carry a social and purely human duty and charge. To remember the history and keep it. To treat our heritage and ancestors with respect.
Respect and love for the motherland are an integral part of Fatoumata's work, and here she once again proves how deeply rooted Malian culture is in its sense of the world and art.
Beautiful, hypnotic plays that tell legends and parables and walk us through the history, culture and music of magical Mali.
You can listen to this African tale on digital platforms.
