Forgotten Treasures - Trio ELF

Or what happens, when you put all your nomadic houses and belongings in one place. How to discover unthought of treasures and the joy of finding hidden gems.
There’s people and then there’s people - some only ever live at one, tops two places. And then there are those who change places, countries, houses, priorities, ways of living.
The day has come to bring everything under the same roof. To filter out the important from the unimportant and that’s when you have to dive into your memories and your past, to take a big hard look at things and decide what you leave behind and what you can live without.

In those kinds of moments, going through musical collections on all kinds of formats becomes a hard task - vinyls, mountains of tapes and cd’s.
A wave of pure joy and nostalgia hits you once you start.
You take a trip through your life in a more fulfilling way than looking at pictures.
In those moments you discover the real treasures, long forgotten and covered with dust. And all they have been waiting for is to be found.

The beginning is from a more recent time with the German Trio ELF and their album “Amsterdam”, recorded live in 2013 at the iconic Bimhuis, issued by Enja. Trio ELF with Walter Lang on the piano, Peter Cudek on bass and Gerwin Eisenhauer on drums - one of the most famous German jazz formations, with popularity spanning way further than the German borders.

We listen to Hammer Baby Hammer - a very rhythmical and groovy piece, at the same time very dramatic and unexpected. And the overall mood of the live performance can be felt in every note. You could easily dance to it.
