Glass of wine

‘’Happiness is a simple thing: a glass of wine, roasted chestnuts, the sound of the sea…’'
That’s how Kazantzakis describes happiness through one of his characters.
We completely agree with the great writer and today we round up our summer memories with a glass of wine, we swap out the chestnuts for cheese, and we enjoy the sound of the sea.
We got lucky this summer with an unexpected trip and a meeting with the amber coloured Samos island wine. A wine that is best known throughout the Mediterranean and Europe from the middle ages. A wine that is well respected in France - a sommelier country with strong traditions.
A muscat dessert wine from Samos found us on a neighbouring island and made us fall in love. All the summer adventures, the atmosphere of the southern seas, the smells and the sounds of these lands can really be tasted in a sip of wine from Samos.
While we watch the sunset through the forest of masts with delight, we sip this elixir and think to ourselves: ‘’How right is Kazantzakis!’’
Happiness really is a simple thing, as long as you have the heart to feel it. The joy from every small moment, every surprise that can happen, like the journey that came upon us this summer. Like a glass of amber wine. We wrap things up with the traditional Samiotisa (the girl from Samos), that describes the atmosphere perfectly - here performed by the diva of Greek music Nana Mouskouri.
