Hidden Corners by Jamie Saft Quartet

Today we’re listening to Jamie Saft Quartet’s newest album, which came out this Friday on RareNoiseRecors. Jamie Saft on piano is accompanied by Bradley Jones on bass, Dave Liebman on the saxophone and the flute and Hamid Drake on drums.
Jamie Safts’ music can be recognised by its distinct depth, melodicity and positivity. In his latest album we take a walk between the genres and we listen to not only classical standards, but also eastern mystical motives – mainly influences by Jewish mysticism. Yet another musical journey, with a lot of new surprises hidden in little cornets along the way.
Saft once again returns to the acoustic piano, made stronger by the warm sound of Jones’ contrabass. An incredibly soft and warm sound, that covers us like a blanket. In the same time there are pieces, that bring us to deep thoughts, full of mysticism. But also pieces, that lead to the world of Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
The intimate atmosphere between these four craftsmen is visible throughout. They all search and travel together.
To finish things off, as Saft himself says about this album “I always aim towards creating music, that I can listen to with pleasure myself. We follow the positive path in music.
And today we listen to three pieces from Hidden Corners by the Jamie Saft Quartet.
We bought the full album from Rare Noise Records web site.
