Itamar Borochov

Or when something is meant to come to you, it will find its way.
Extremely excited I am writing the beginning of this text. The name kept popping up the past couple of months, and I somehow never got the time. In the musical river, quite overflowing and wild in recent times, willpower is required. But he kept popping up again and again. Until I was forced to listen.
A couple of words about Itamar Borochov – born in a family of musicians from Bukhara – where Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan meet. He grew up in Israel and living in New York since 2006. No surprise here – a man of many cultures. The difference here is the feel of the music and the incredible balance that he accomplishes in his playing. To make traditional music sound completely jazzy. To find the middle ground and to go so deep. Music wins you over with its depth and its balance, with an inner focus, and not with the help of outside tools. There is no sliding on the surface here.
All people that grew up in a multi-cultural environment have a very special way of seeing the world, but also a very broad inner world. A world that has gone through many transformations until it found its true face.
A few facts – three studio albums out so far. The second one, Boomerang, became quite successful in the New York circles. We are following the third one with great interest – Blue Nights, issued in Europe in the fall of 2018 and in the US and Canada in February 2019.
Like we’ve already said many times, music needs no long explanations, it just needs to be heard. Now we listen to Itamar Borochov and “Pain Song” from his debut album Outset.
