Jamie Saft and Cyro Baptista in the reggae project Sunshine Seas

The reggae project Sunshine seas by the New Zion Trio feat. Cyro Baptista – incredibly positive, summery and bright album, issued on RareNoiseRecords in 2016. The old colleagues and friends Jamie Saft – on piano and Cyro Baptista – on percussions, accompanied by Brad Jones on the bass, Craig Santiago on drums and Vanessa Saft on vocals in Sunshine Seas. One can write a whole lot about Saft and Baptista’s enormous talent, virtuosity and range of emotions. Regulars on most of John Zorn’s projects in the last 20 years, they can take all kinds of forms – from purely acoustic formats to the most incredible combinations in the form of a small philharmonic, such as Electric Masada.

Here, as New Zion, they fly and use their ability to have fun, to recreate the sunny side of the world. A lot of reggae, a lot of groove, a lot of sense of humour. An album, proven itself through time, that leads to addiction.
