Nublu jazz fest 2018 highlights - Now vs Now

Musicaround is still riding the festival wave and we go straight from Sarajevo to New York – Ilhan Ersahin’s Nublu club, for this year’s edition of the Nublu Jazz Fest. A wide variety of accents this year – from the classics by Sun Ra Arkestra and Brian Jackson, Now vs Now and Dave Harrington to Spy from Cairo amongst many more…
And since on the schedule for November 7th is also the premiere of Jason Lindner and Now vs Now’s latest album, we go on by introducing a couple of newly issued autumn projects by the musicians we closely follow. A couple of words about the third studio album by Now vs Now – Buffering Cocoon (Jazzland recordings, 2018). Lindner was mentioned here before as a participant in Bowie’s Blackstar Swan song and also as a frontman of the eclectic Now vs Now, who’s projects we’ve been keeping track of for a while now.
Pioneers in developing new music, always brave and flying through various styles and continents, without worrying that they would end up misunderstood. Jason Lindner on keys, Panagiotis Andreou on bass and Justin Tyson of percussions.
Eclectic is the word dominating not just critics’ reviews, but those of the general public. Plays, where the virtuoso keys of Lindner blend together with Andreou’s eastern vocals. All of that coming together in a new, global sound.
The words spoken by Chick Corea about Lindner prove to be true: “He’s a musical universe.” The Brooklyn virtuoso , accompanied by Andreou and Tyson, once again send us on a journey around the globe, that would change our thoughts about new music.
As a logical conclusion it can be said that the album is produced and issued on the label belonging to a different contemporary music guru, or the so called jazztronica – Bugge Wesseltoft.
This barely scratches the surface on Nublu, keep up with the news.
