On the road in May, June & July

With the approaching month of May, more and more events are being brought back to the open. After a two-year hiatus, this summer the musical life begins to return to its usual busy pace.

If you haven't completely planned for the next three months, here are some suggestions for music events nearby, between 300 and 900 km. away from Sofia. Among the participants are names such as Iggy Pop, Snarky Puppy, John McLaughlin and others.

We start with this year's edition of the Ljubljana Jazz Fest, which will take place from June 15-18. The list of musicians includes oud master Anouar Brahem, British saxophonist Chelsea Carmichael and the American band Irreversible Entanglements. More about the festival here.

July begins with a remarkable event by the sea in Athens. Iggy Pop's concert will take place on July 2, followed by Liam Gallagher and other serious names in contemporary rock. More information here.

Also in early July - on the 5th, in Athens will play the punk band with Ukrainian roots Gogol Bordello.

And at the same time - on July 3, the American super group Snarky Puppy returns to Belgrade, which always welcomes them with a warm embrace (and as it turned out at our last meeting there - regardless of weather conditions). Concert tickets here.

Istanbul is hosting the 29th edition of its summer jazz festival this year. Participants this summer include John McLaughlin and Dianne Reeves. Tickets and information here.

We expect more interesting names and events during the remaining summer months to charge us with the energy of live concerts.
