Polish Connection

Today we once again pay attention to Polish jazz and its contemporary faces. Poland is a country with a huge tradition and history of jazz music. Homeland of musicians from the class of Krzysztof Komeda and Tomasz Stanko. Nowadays with artists like Leszek Możdżer and the trio of Marcin Wasilewski.
This fertile environment gave birth to another interesting project - the Błoto Quartet. Our attention was drawn to their latest, third album "Kwasy i zasady", released at the end of this spring (Astigmatic Records 2021). Acids and bases - this is how the title translates. The eternal opposition in nature and the world. Fertile ground for improvisations and upgrades, but also contrasts. A project that brings together avant-garde and hip-hop, with a dominant retro electronic sound.
Another interesting detail is the fact that the recording was made with a minimum number of microphones on a tape, which further contributes to the characteristic vintage sound.
The quartet was formed in the summer of 2018 and has released three albums so far. Wuja HZG, Cancer G, OlafSaxx and Latarnik - behind these pseudonyms are the four participants in "Błoto". Other innovators that we will continue to follow with interest.
Enjoy listening and traveling around the world with songs from the latest album of the Polish quartet.
You will find Błoto's music on digital platforms.
