St. Vincent the chameleon

April keeps bringing us more information about upcoming album releases and in recent days, the name St. Vincent has been constantly appearing before us from several different sides. Today we dice into the music of American musician and instrumentalist Annie Erin Clark - best known as St. Vincent.

When the vectors of two musicians we respect intersected on her name, we decided to pay attention to her work, as well as the first singles from her upcoming, eighth album.

Annie Clark was born in Oklahoma, began playing guitar at 12 and later studied at the prestigious Berklee College. Her first album was released in 2007 and showed that the music of St. Vincent is a colorful mix of rock, grunge, indie, pop and even jazz, and also strongly influenced by the work of David Bowie, Kate Bush, Nick Cave, Nirvana …

In 2009, Annie Clark met the great David Byrne of Talking Heads at a charity event, marking the beginning of a more than two-year collaboration that gave birth to their joint album Love This Giant (released on 4AD in 2012). From this album today we offer the song Who.

Her eponymous next album, released in 2014 was a huge success and brought St. Vincent a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music. Here we listen to Birth in Reverse, in which you will also see Annie Clark playing guitar.

In 2017 St. Vincent releases the amazing album MASSEDUCTION in a completely different role and direction, from which we listen to the song Sugarboy.

And we expect the new album by St. Vincent, titled Daddy’s Home to be released in May. And while we wait, we listen to a few songs from different albums and watch two live performances from last week, in which jazz drummer Mark Guiliana also takes part.
