Still riding the summer wave

Since it’s still summer for us, we’re listening to and talking about two projects where the music from the Middle East is intertwining with different forms. 
First, in the case of Quarter to Africa, the Sephardic motives are mixed with African blues, sprinkled with a solid amount of sense of humour and a contemporary view of the world. Here we listen to them accompanied by Avishai Cohen.

With No Blues, we hear a combination of the music from the Middle East and the Mississippi blues or more commercial variations of the same African blues. The colourful band, based in the Netherlands, describes their style of playing as Arabicana. Ideal summer music to sail the Southern Seas to.
