The different 2020

And this winter, with New Year's Eve approaching, we collect the music we listened to during 2020 - the year of masks, distance, tests. But also a year of optimism and compassion. A year in which the world lost some of its innocence, but also to become more united and empathetic. Today we look back on the memories of 2020, dressed up as musical photos. 2020 through our eyes and ears in our YouTube playlist.

We start with an older, but very suitable for winter evening’s project - the Baltic mystery from the group of Igor Timofeev WTTC and the song Pingogu.

After that, we selected another older offering that we listened to during the winter, this time from Myriam Alter's latest project and her return to Greek-Jewish roots. The song is called Weird Mood and is from the album CrossWays.

The end of winter brought us a magical February evening in Berlin with Kirill Petrenko and the Berlin Philharmonic. Then March came and the ever-hurried world stopped in order to make us look inward and rearrange our priorities.

Then came spring. With it came Rena Morfi's new album ΣΑΜΠΑ ΤΣΙΚΙΤΑ, from which is the single “You Got Lost”.

Ilhan Ersahin’s Wonderland project "On the Terrace" was released in May - in the playlist we listen to Labne. We continue in June with the song Kora from the last album of the same name by GoGo Penguin, released then.

In the middle of July, summer gave us a magical voyage and the music of AYYUKA with the album Maslak Halayı, from which we chose the song Yukadans.

Otherwise, all the time since April, the quarantine jokingly reminds us of itself with the micro-piece WASH YOU HANDS CABOCLINHO !!! By Cyro Baptista and co.

In August, Joseph Tawadros' project about oud and symphony orchestra appeared. Music that could not be assigned to any particular genre - for some it would be classical, for others avant-garde, for us - this is the music of the 21st century. In our playlist is the song Eye Of The Beholder.

We continue on the verge of autumn with the album Twins by the octet Collectif la boutique by Fabrice Martinez with guest musician Vincent Peirani and the song Parfum.

And since, fortunately, the world doesn't stop and art always finds its way, the fall season this year has found a way to make it happen. It took place mainly online and all major jazz festivals had such editions. Here we listen to new interesting music from London - Vincent Peirani and Emile Parisien with the song Nouchka from their latest album Abrazo.

And in November the long-awaited new album of the Istanbul quartet of Ilhan Ersahin "Bir Zamanlar Şimdi" was released, from which we listen to the play Hattusa.

Finally, we offer the guitar of Thomas Naim, which we discovered recently, here with an interpretation of the play by Jimi Hendrix’s Cherokee Mist.

The traditional advice - listen to music on headphones or with good sound!

Happy Holidays! Stay healthy!
