The Jamie Saft quartet – Blue dream

The Jamie Saft quartet – about the complicity between music, the deep understanding of it and experiencing the same things together. The new album in a quartet formation only proves the genius of Jamie Saft. We’ve heard him play in all kinds of projects – from the John Zorn's formations to the New Zion trio, his film works, even as a member of Wax Poetics, many, many years ago. In his last interview Jamie Saft says that team work is most important of all – there’s no place for selfish people in music!
And here we are, The Jamie Saft quartet with the project Blue Dream (Rare noise records, 2018). The second project for this year, but completely different from its piano solo predecessor. Here, accompanied by Bradley Jones on bass, Bill McHenry on tenor saxophone and Nasheet Waits on drums, he takes us back to the good old times of standards, but mixed with today’s knowledge… With the depth that he’s capable of and the knowledge he’s gathered throughout the years. Continuity is the word that best describes this album, but also innovation. It’s not by chance that shortly after its release in the summer of 2018, the album went up to the top of the jazz charts in the UK.
After the two incredibly successful albums by New Standard together with Steve Swallow and Bobby Previte, we again listen to the classical, warm standards as seen through Jamie Saft’s eyes.
Focus on depths and an inimitable touch. You don’t talk about great music – you listen to it – The Jamie Saft quartet.
