Tord Gustavsen’s piano

Today we listen to the magical and mystical music of Word Gustavsen. Somewhere in between Bach, medieval church choirs, and the contemporary world. Music, that is highly concentrated and directed towards the inner I. Full of personal monologues and dialogues, that flow like thoughts while we listen to it.
Tord Gustavsen is born in Norway - a country with a rich musical history and environment. He started playing church music from an early age. He graduated in humanities and psychology before continuing his musical education. The first album by his piano trio Changing Places, issued on ECM in 2003, attracts the attention to both the critics and the audience. The album was followed by two more, that in 2007 completed the trilogy of the musician with his colleagues Harald Johnsen on bas and Jarle Vespestad on drums in the format of Tord Gustavsen trio.
Later on Gustavsen changed the format and worked on projects in bigger formations.
He then collaborated with the Afghan singer Simin Tander, with whom he issued the album What Was Said in 2016. An album highly influenced by the verses of Rumi. Music directed at the inner core.
In 2018 Gustavsen returned to his original trio with the album The Other Side
In the meantime he was constantly touring at festivals and clubs and he was perfecting his improvisations.
We showcase Tord Gustavsen’s music from various projects, as well as separate collaborations with European musicians such as Ulrich Drechsler.
Today we dive into our inner world with music by Tord Gustavsen.
