Water

It’s not spring that has provoked this text, I say to myself with a smile. Because water is everywhere around us.
What would you do in a city that has no water – not even a sea or a river? It brings such a specific flavour to life and what’s happening around us. The dynamic is different and everything is somehow more colourful and full of life. There is always someone going in or going out. There is usually no traffic lights and no trash. Everyone is organized. There are places that even lack trash bins – there’s designated spots to collect the trash.
A life near water very often takes urbanization out of the picture – fact. Poetry is king.
Someone, who is a random passer-by, could fix your broken fuse or give you a drink – just like that, just because we are together.
Life on water can introduce you to people handing out freshly caught edible sea urchins or homemade mead. You never know…
When talking to a person who lives near water, they always look unrealistically positive and busy at the same time. The dynamics of the moment does not allow for any down time, but at the same time, the poetry is all there. The sudden change is a lifestyle on its own and that’s the beauty of it, yes…
The music that you listen to on water is completely different – somewhat soft and at the same time – vibrant. And no matter what you might be listening to, it will always be with a different set of ears, because all your senses are on a different frequency.
Water changes everything. And it somehow always brings up new and unsuspected emotions.
After so many years of life on the water, no matter what person I ask, they could never imagine a life without it.
And it somehow ends or is the beginning of everything and it makes things soft and smooth. It can surround reality in perfectly different colours and it can show the simple beauty of the world. Because it is water. Water today is the music of Myriam Alter.
