Beat music! Beat music! Beat music!
“The yellow album” by Mark Guiliana (Motema music 2019), that just recently came out on April 12th, found us at a rooftop terrace in Athens and literally blew us away. Despite the three promo singles, no one was ready for this one. Because the entry to another dimension is a fact here.
Ljubljana 2019
The Ljubljana jazz festival is coming up with its 60th edition. We already knew from last year that we would get two days of music with John Zorn for the opening, and we just recently found out that we will be ending it with Snarky Puppy.
For people not in the know – nothing special. For those familiar – a feast.
From San Sebastian to the Song Project
in 2013 we packed up our bags and flew to Basque country. And thanks to John Zorn’s music in particular, we got to see the
unmeasurable wild beauty of the Basque coastline. Where hydrangeas are four meters tall, and so is the tide, and the
atmosphere is still stuck in the 20’s of the 20 th century.
Africa
Africa is music. Poverty and joy out of life, traffic and contrast.
Every person that ended up in different parts of Africa would say that there’s a different Africa. This is mine – beautiful and brave.
Africa is poetry. Africa is rhythm, the music on a kora and a female voice.
And also the genius album by Aldo Romano, Louis Sklavis and Henri Texier from 1995 – Carnet de routes – one of the most beautiful songs in the world.
Music for cats
We have a jazzy cat of our own, it goes by the name of Geranium. It comes with a slow step, curls up to the closest flower pot containing Geranium (hence the name), listens to music, but does not come in contact with us. If there is food – she is happy. But she never begs. Because all cats are in charge.
GoGo Penguin up close and personal
Yes, there is no lie, one of the most progressive jazz bands of our time is playing in Athens on April 12th.
As part of their European tour, that includes cities in the Czech Republic and Budapest, the closest one to us is Athens.
